About Us

Scott Yelich

I have been practicing the art of bonsai for about twenty years.  Bonsai first caught my eye about the same time I saw "The Karate Kid." I decided to give the hobby a try, although  I had no idea what I was doing.  After a couple of years of struggle, I met Mike Devore, a bonsai grower living in Crawfordsville, Indiana.  He introduced me to tropical bonsai and guided me to success.  From there, I was hooked.  Although I have both outdoor trees and "indoor" tropical bonsai, I have chosen to specialize in tropicals.   My greatest interests are with the ficus species and with collected buttonwoods.  I am currently the assistant vice president of the Indianapolis Bonsai Club.

Besides bonsai, I love the outdoors.  I also love hanging out with my wife, Janna and daughter, Lauren.

Kyle Crossland

Kyle is an Indiana native, born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He has been working in ceramics for more than twenty years.  His creative focus is on form and surface.  He has worked with nationally known artists such as Ken Furgusson, Victor Babu and John Salisteri.  He is the ceramics studio technician at the Indianapolis Art Center and a recipient of the Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship, 2007-2008 from the Arts Council of Indianapolis. He also has a BA in Ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute, Kansas City, MO.   Over the years, Kyle has constructed several pots for me to use with some of my specimen trees.  Kyle is very talented and he is able to make pots ranging from traditional to contemporary.  His handmade pots are high fired so they can survive those cold Indiana winters.
